So first of all I would just like to announce that I am thrilled to be in a 1-on-1 bracket challenge with Ryan for this year's NCAA tournament. I would like to thank the rest of you for sucking at life. In case you forgot, this is America and there are 2 sporting events that everyone pays attention to even if they don't know what sports are: The Super Bowl and March Madness. Also, since clearly the rest of you aren't paying attention I thought you might want to know that Harvard is in the tournament again this year, albeit they will probably get stomped out of by New Mexico in the first round (at least that is what my bracket says). Will I still root for them? Obviously. It's called hedging your bets and/or maximizing happiness potential.
Anyway, with that out of the way back to positives and amusement. I finished my first season abroad. Who knows it could be my last but at the moment I am definitely interested in trying to find another situation for next year. One thing is certain, I will not be back here in Luxembourg. We finished in 3rd place. After that ended 2 weekends ago I went on a little trip. I spent 3 days in London with the lovely Dre. I assume she will be posting special photos of us from around London on Facebook at some point. It was a great time and we reveled in much awkness. One of my personal favorites is that at some point on day 2 we just started riding the escalators on the subway 4 or 5 stairs apart completely ignoring each other. That continued for the rest of the trip. Guess when you are just naturally as good at being awk as Dre and I are these things happen. Also, Dre and I did a little tour around this department store called Harrods. Apparently this place is like a mall but for loaded people. One store in it is called The Million Club I believe or something with Million in the title. We also had British high tea time or whatever it is called at a cafe in Harrods next to a very upper class British mother and her mid-to-late 20s daughters. They were judging us so clearly that Dre and I didn't talk until they left which was about 10 minutes after we sat down. All in all it was delightful and maybe Dre can blog with some of her own opinions, comments, or favorite moments.
After Dre time in London, I went to Sweden to see my friend Evan again and see one of his playoff matches. Not too eventful and no noteworthy events to report.
I am now back in Luxembourg until next Monday morning when I take a train to Brussels. I stay there for 2 days with a teammate before my flight back to the states on March 27th. These days can not go by fast enough. I will be in NY form March 28th-April 2nd, Boston from April 3rd-April 10th, and Chicago from April 10th-15th. After that, I return to CA and intend to do a road trip to NorCal and back. I will present the next episodes of Post Season Adventures as those coming weeks unfold.
I hope you all are well and hope to hear about your lives.
Finally, as some of you may know I grew a playoff beard. Yesterday, I shaved it and got my haircut in preparation for the return. Dre demanded to see the steps of the shaving as did Evan in fact. Therefore, I have some pictures to show you the transformation which I have placed below. Enjoy them and feel free to give me shit for or compliment any or all of these "looks." Basically just give me attention. I'm a whore and I need it.
Love,
Jones
Ps: Bonus photo of me with this mermaid monument in Copenhagen which is apparently famous as one of the worlds worst monuments. It's tiny and a joke. It was awesome.
