Twisted -- So the roller coaster trip I went on with my mom was pretty awesome. There were lots of good ones but by the end of so many days on coasters a lot of them wash together except for the few true standouts. Below are pictures of our favorite called Top Thrill Dragster in Cedar Point Ohio. It shoots you off at 120 mph and then you go straight up that horseshoe and back down. It is around 400 ft. high I believe. Only takes 17 seconds but it was sweet. Feel free to check out pictures and/or YouTube videos of it or the rest of our top 5 at your leisure:
2) Intimdator 305
3) Millenium Force
4) Griffon
5) Volcano
The only con from the trip was that we ate a lot of park food and my body hated it. I think it was worse for me than all the drinking from senior week.
Tamed -- Speaking of senior week. I miss fun. I am pretty focused on the preparing for the European tryout in August and so I am working out every weekday morning at 6:30am. Then work 9-5pm and then volleyball at night 3 times a week with that number hopefully picking up with other vball guys starting to get back in town who were on the quarter system. Saturday workouts at 7:30am and then vball when I can on the weekends. I have had 1 beer a time or two at friends' houses but basically I haven't gone out or done anything "fun" in quite awhile. However, I feel great and am happy about the shape I am getting back into and am hopeful it will all pay off. Also, I miss talking to girls...or at least trying to talk to girls...or most accurately staring at girls from across the room. I confided in Brian that my inability to hate Bieber's new song Boyfriend and the ease with which I am allowing this social-less life to consume me may mean I am gay. Hoping that isn't that case. I don't have anything against gay people, but I just want to have kids of my own someday who can beat the shit out of/annoy all of your kids. Also, I will encourage my sons/daughters to hit on all of Ryan's daughters/sons 1) to annoy him and 2) to ensure beautiful grandchildren. I digress.
Trevored -- So one perk to all these workouts I am doing in the morning is that Trevor Hoffman (famous Padres Closer for any who don't know the name) and his sons also do these workouts. I have gotten to know him a little bit and he is a really cool guy. Today he bought me and a couple of other people at the workout breakfast. While we were eating, he shared a pretty funny story with us in front of his 8th and 7th grader which made it even more hilarious. Apparently his rookie year, he was out with some older guys on the team after a day of preseason training camp and initiation/hazing is a thing even in professional sports. One of the guys told Trevor that he had to go into a restaurant and get him a beer. When Trevor got inside, he realized he only had $1 in his wallet. He was didn't want to go back out without the beer cause he knew they would be pissed so he decided to try and steal one. He thought the lady at the bar wasn't looking and just as he had it in his hand she whipped around. 2 bouncers took him outside and had him against the wall while they waited for the police. He decided he could outrun them and took off. Turns out the bouncers were pretty fast and caught him shortly. He was smart enough to think about his career and said he immediately laid down in the grass and said please don't yank on my shoulder. The cops came and took him away. The next day his agent got him out of jail and he was lucky enough to have the day off from camp that day. The team never found out and the only punishment was that his passport had him tagged as charged for a misdemeanor which would come up whenever they traveled to play the Canadian teams. Then he asked if I had any good stories but somehow (I don't know how) we never had a run in with the police that I can remember so I had nothing to share.
Finally, I am bored at work and so this was a great reprieve. You all must be doing much more interesting things if you don't have time to post. I hope you can find time to share soon. Always looking for something to read while I count the minutes away in this chair.
